Whether or not you’re going for a military victory in Civilization 7, you will eventually engage in some combat. Building an army is one of the most basic tips and tricks, but the game fails to tell you one of the most important mechanics: healing. After coming out on top of a skirmish against another Leader — or managing to retreat with your lives — your units will be damaged. At first, there doesn’t look like there’s any way to heal them back up and you are stuck with a unit that will die the next time they are hit. We’ll fill you in on the simple way to get your units back into fighting shape in Civilization 7.

How to heal units
There are two ways to heal units in Civilization 7, but one of them is very conditional and not as practical. The easier way is always available, but you need to look in the controls to even know it exists.
Step 1: Find an injured unit and put them on a safe tile on the map.
Step 2: On their next turn, press the H key to instruct them to fortify and heal.
Step 3: This unit will become immobile and build a camp where it will regenerate HP on every turn.
Step 4: Once that unit’s HP is full, remember to select them and command them to stop their action so you can control them again.
The other way you can heal units is if you choose a town’s specialization to give passive healing to any units on that tile. That does mean you can still use that unit to defend if needed, but because they have to stay locked on that one specific spot until healed, it isn’t all that convenient.
