Everything announced at Pokémon Presents 2025

It’s February 27, which means that it’s Pokémon Day. To celebrate the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, The Pokémon Company throws a special live stream every year on this day. That’s always a cause for excitement, but this year’s Pokémon Presents showcase wasespecially intriguing with the Nintendo Switch 2 right around the corner.

While we didn’t see Nintendo’s new console during the stream, we did at least get a tease of two games likely coming to the system. Pokémon Legends: Z-A got a new trailer that teased a late 2025 release date, which would likely make it a Switch 2 cross-launch. We also learned that Pokémon Champions is in development, which could likely make its way to Nintendo’s new system. Beyond that, we got updates on the usual line-up of Pokémon mobile games like Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket and Pokémon Go. If you missed the show, here’s out full recap of what was announced.

Pokémon Champions is a new Stadium game

Pokémon Champions! | Announcement Trailer

The Pokémon Stadium series is getting a revival. Pokémon Champions is a new competitive game that is in development for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. It also sounds like it could be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 as well, as it’s slated to launch on “the Nintendo Switch family of consoles.” Development is being handled by The Pokémon Works. It will be compatible with Pokémon Home, allowing players to bring in creatures from across the series. We only saw a tease of the game during the presentation, but it showed off some familiar arena battles that call back to the classic Nintendo 64 games.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A gets its grand reveal

An Extended Look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A!

The Pokémon Company finally lifted the lid on Pokémon Legends: Z-A to close out the showcase. We got a glimpse of its gameplay, which takes the gameplay of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and places it into a Lumiose City. We see clips of a trainer battling on the streets with pals like Lucario and catching monsters freely. After the new trailer, we got a full overview of its story, characters, and gameplay. There are Wild Zones strewn about the city, which explains why trainers catch Pokémon  in the city. The battle system has been completely revamped too, as it has a real-time component. Mega evolutions are returning for Z-A, as well.

The only thing we didn’t get is a proper release date. It’s currently slated to release in late 2025, fueling speculation that it could release on Nintendo Switch 2.

Tons of mobile game updates

Pokémon TCG Pocket: Triumphant Light | Coming February 28!

We got a bunch of quick updates for Pokémon mobile games, so I’ll rattle them off quickly. Pokémon Go is getting a Black and White themed event on March 4. Primal Groudon and Kygore are coming to Pokémon Masters Ex. Pokémon Café Remix is getting a new apple-themed event, featuring new recipes and outfits. Cresselia and Darkrai are coming to Pokémon Sleep. Suicune, Alolan Raichu, and Alcremie are coming to Pokémon Unite this year, alongside an updated map and a “first to 500” game mode.

Finally, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is getting a new booster pack on February 28 called Triumphant Light, which features Arceus. Mega Pokémon cards are coming to the game as well later this year.

Pokémon Concierge is getting a second season

Pokémon Concierge | New Episodes on Netflix September 2025

Netflix’s animated series Pokémon Concierge is getting new episodes. Season 2 is currently in production and slated to launch in September 2025. We got a glimpse of a few critters joining the series in the new episodes, including Shinx and Arcanine. The first four episodes of the first season will be available to stream for free on Pokémon’s YouTube channel until March 9.

New updates for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

If you’re still playing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you’ve got some updates coming. The Pokémon Company is giving away a new Rotom phone case in the games. More Terra battles are coming too, featuring creatures like Garchomp and Salamence.
